Custom Outdoor accents

Hi! I've been creating new pieces out of old pieces since 2012...I was inspired by my Mom and Dad's garden on our family farm....I figured Mom would enjoy some beautiful upcycled art to what she has worked hard to create in the yard. (They have many pieces all over the place now🙂) I love the hunting for treasures to reimagine as much as I love creating them.

I take pride in putting together original, thought out and solid pieces.  I really hope my play (work) brings people joy when they look at it😊

The handpainting of repurposed glassware is so much fun....I love the way people respond when they see how the solar lights look lit up😊 I also do lots of custom painting and pieces for gifts, remembrance and heirlooms.

All pieces I create can be used indoor or out....having fun is what it's all about! (And helping reduce waste on our beautiful planet too!)

RE/MAX Crown Real Estate   Kim Oberthier

After 30 years working with the provincial government and raising a family - it was time to leave and pursue a new career. Call it a revelation; but I knew in my heart real estate was where I needed to be.

I have been in this business 11 years now (I have both my Residential Sales Licence and Property Management Licence) and I absolutely love it! I truly enjoy meeting people, shopping for homes with them as well as, listing and selling their homes. Every single transaction is unique and it is so great assisting people through every part of the process. Being in real estate has allowed me to help out in the community. I belong on two boards, volunteer assistance where, when, and how I can; such as Habitat for Humanity, Salvation Army Kettle at Christmas, New Line Boxing Academy, and the RE/MAX Group Advertising Committee. I am currently on the Nominations Committee and the Professional Standards Committee with the Saskatchewan REALTORS® Association.

In my down time, I love spending time with my family and friends and especially my three grandchildren. When I'm not spending time with family or friends; I find it relaxing working in my yard, reading books, and taking any type of motivational or upgrading classes. As indicated above, I love what I do and would love to assist you with anything Real Estate!

YMCA OF regina

Honouring the past, looking to the future -

By: Steve Compton, CEO - YMCA of Regina

The YMCA of Regina as a registered charitable organization has a rich history of serving our community for over 130 years, building mind, body and spirit for many generations.

During major world conflicts, times of financial depression and extended periods of crisis, we have been honoured to continue to provide a place where everyone belongs.

Even with the past strength of the Association over many years, the YMCA of Regina was faced with the challenging reality that if it were to remain a strong community presence for future generations, significant and critical decisions needed to be made.

In November 2020, we made the extremely difficult decision to close both our Downtown and East locations and consolidate our Health, Fitness and Aquatics programming to our Northwest facility.

Our childcare services located at our Downtown facility will continue at this location while we consider and explore future options.

We know that COVID-19 has had a devastating effect on many organizations and businesses in our community, and the YMCA of Regina was not immune to this.

We were faced with increased expenses in delivering services within the expanded operational guidelines and restrictions, continued building and capital costs as well as total membership dropping to 53% from previous levels organization wide due to cancellations as a direct result of this pandemic.

Understandably and respectfully, these closures had a major impact in our community.

Over the past weeks since the announcement, we have received heartfelt communications from many people about the impact the YMCA of Regina has had in their lives, as well as encouragement and support to ensure our important work continues in the community as the Y is so much more than just the buildings that our programs operate from.

Despite these challenges and changes, we remain committed to serving the community and growing our impact to those we serve through many important services and programs.

  • 625 licensed childcare spaces supporting families in Regina and Moose Jaw through our 11 childcare centres
  • Before and After school programs including “Schools Out” day camps operating out of 16 elementary school partner locations in Regina and Moose Jaw.
  • 3 Moose Jaw Early Learning Centres working in partnership with Holy Trinity School Division.
  • A full offering of Health Fitness and Aquatics programs at our Northwest YMCA facility including swim lessons, personal training, drop-in fitness programs, child minding and so much more.

As a charity we support the community through many important community programs including:

  • Assisted membership to families and individuals that would otherwise not be able to fully participate in our programs and services
  • Youth mentorship programs in Regina and Moose Jaw
  • Beyond the Bell school-based programming in partnership with Arcola Community School
  • Youth leadership development through our YMCA Leaders program
  • Perinatal programming, pregnancy, and birth support

While some of these programs are on pause or are being delivered differently during the pandemic, we remain committed to serving the community in these important areas or to step up and serve in new areas where we will be needed in the future as we come through these challenging times.

We will also continue to work with our community partners towards exciting new initiatives such a renewed childcare centre, the exploration of a new joint use facility and the potential repurposing of the Downtown property as a community service hub.

And as a part of the business community, we remain committed to our staff team of over 275 employees and to ensure our contribution to our local economies and communities.

Working to honour the past and understanding the future needs of the community the YMCA of Regina will be ready to serve as we have for over 130 years.

With gratitude,
Steve Compton
Chief Executive Officer
YMCA of Regina
