STATISTICS CANADA SURVEY INDICATES EMPLOYMENT GROWTH IN DECEMBER 2022

Statistics Canada released the results of its Labour Force Survey for December 2022 today and the numbers indicate that employment rose by 0.5% while unemployment declined 0.1 percentage points.

Employment rose by 104,000 jobs during the month. The national unemployment rate is now 5.0%, just above the record low of 4.9% reached in June and July.
