CHAMBER REQUESTS FEDERAL GOVERNMENT REMOVE NEW CAPITAL GAINS INCLUSION RATE

Posted by: Regina Chamber Admin - May 15, 2024

The Government of Canada recently announced it would increase the capital gains inclusion rate (the share of capital gains that is taxed) from 50 per cent to 67 per cent. The change will apply to those with more than $250,000 in capital gains in a year as of June 25, 2024.

The Regina & District Chamber of Commerce collected information and data on the upcoming change through numerous discussions with members of the Regina business community and other Chamber organizations.

Following these discussions, Chamber CEO Tony Playter drafted a letter to Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland requesting that the Federal Government review and remove the new capital gains inclusion rate.
