The Council of Canadian Innovators (CCI), which represents more than 150 Canadian tech companies, issued a report on Friday advising on how Canada should approach the growth of artificial intelligence (AI).
While the report pointed out that AI has a place in the world going forward, it also suggested that Canada needs AI regulations that are responsible and offers protection from the dangerous side of the technology.
There have been big developments in recent months to AI systems and in hope of balancing the potential rewards and risks of the technology, the Artificial Intelligence Data Act was tabled last summer. Currently, there is no regulatory framework in Canada specific to AI.
Tara Deschamps of The Canadian Press has been following the issues with AI and wrote a detailed story following the release of the CCI report. To read the story, click HERE.
