COMMISSIONAIRES CELEBRATE 75 OF EMPLOYING VETERANS & SERVING SASKATCHEWAN

Posted by: Regina Chamber Admin - March 10, 2023

FROM COMMISSIONAIRES SOUTH SASKATCHEWAN

On March 2, 2023, the South Saskatchewan Division of Commissionaires received a certificate commemorating 75 years of service to Saskatchewan from Regina & District Chamber of Commerce CEO Tony Playter.

Commissionaires were founded in 1925 by veterans of the First World War to provide meaningful employment to those returning from the war effort. In 1948, Saskatchewan veterans of the Second World War founded a new division in our province.

Historically, Commissionaires in Regina have guarded municipal buildings, but their duties have grown and diversified over the years. Recently, Commissionaires have protected Rider games, potash mines outside the city, jail cells in RCMP detachments and municipal police locations; the Regina Public Library System; critical locations for SaskEnergy; the Evraz steel mill; and, our seat of government: the Legislative Assembly of Saskatchewan.

Commissionaires South Saskatchewan has also grown to offer home and business protective services with mobile patrols; a secure courier service throughout the city; Bailiff services; fingerprinting, criminal record checks and pardon services at their head office in north Regina; bylaw enforcement in more than 60 municipalities; and, a range of training programs available to all, from security guard training to full first-aid certification, dealing with difficult people, cultural sensitivity and more.

“I am very proud to say we are the only non-profit in the North American security industry, and we are a part of the communities in which we operate,” offers Commissionaires South Saskatchewan CEO Monique Goffinet Miller. “We not only guard people, business and events, we also support organizations and causes that align with our mandate and we participate in important community groups like the Regina Chamber of Commerce to help us keep connected with the local business community of today.”

The organization has been a proud member of the Regina & District Chamber of Commerce, as well as the chamber of several other south Saskatchewan municipalities for many years, serving other businesses and employing a diverse team of all ages, ethnicities, and backgrounds in pursuit of their mission: meaningful employment of Canadian veterans, and protection of people, property and information in Saskatchewan since 1948.

Feel free to reach out to Commissionaires to celebrate their milestone on Facebook or LinkedIn, or visit commissionaires.sk.ca to learn more about their history and services available to you and your business. Additional celebratory events are planned for the rest of 2023 . . . stay tuned to the Chamber’s Chamberlink newsletter for future details.
